If you’re on the hunt for a bakery that serves delicious and mouthwatering food, then Mark Bennett’s is exactly what you’re looking for.
With many shops around Dorset, Mark Bennett’s is well known for its artisan bread, flavoursome pastries and sweet treats.
Queues can often be seen out the door with people waiting for their Mark Bennett fix.
Here’s why it’s one of the best bakeries in Dorset.
With 40 years’ worth of experience as one of the best bakers in Britain, Mark Bennett decided to open his own bakery in 2012 along with his wife, Emma.
A third-generation master baker in his family’s bakery business in Poole, Mark is well known for his signature bakes, such as his mouthwatering sausage rolls and award-winning freshly baked bread.
Everything is hand crafted in The Bakehouse in Poole by expert bakers.
The dough for the bread is left to ferment naturally for 16 hours, giving a depth of flavour that builds up naturally.
Rather than speeding the process up and loosing a lot of the flavour.
After fermentation, each loaf is shaped and stone-baked in a Polin oven.
Breads such as Pain de Campagne, Pain au Levain, multiseed, speciality and sourdough bread can be found freshly baked in-store.
Going in, you’ll find a wide selection of gourmet sandwiches, brilliant cakes, cookies and pastries.
The sandwiches are bursting with mouthwatering fresh ingredients; you’ll find it hard to choose as everything looks so good.
Anyone with a sweet tooth will find it hard to resist the array of beautifully made desserts on offer.
You’ll also find baked goods for different occasions, such as brilliant easter logs and heart-shaped shortbread for Valentine’s Day.
😋 A special mention has to go to the peanut butter and chocolate cookies; they are delicious, and you’ll be in heaven with every bite.
Also, another special mention to the brownies with gooey middles and a rich chocolaty taste.
Mark Bennetts also offers speciality celebration cakes.
Each one is made with love and looks brilliant.
It’ll be the star of the show (or party.)
Customers can choose from the likes of Loaded Triple Belgium Chocolate Cake, Salted Caramel Drip Cake, Ferrero Rocher Dream Cake and more.
A great addition to any celebration.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and the cafe has a a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and offers seating inside and outside.
The shops are dotted all around and can be found in:
- Lilliput
- Ashley Cross
- Broadstone
- The Bakehouse (Fleetsbridge)

Hey Claire! Thanks for your comment, we’re happy you like the site 🙂 Pop up restaurants is something that’s on our radar but we haven’t done anything yet. It would be amazing for us to write some content on pop ups in Dorset. We just checked out the BVM article and the food looks really good! Maybe we could do a collab and we could do an article on his pop up restaurant. If he’s interested ask him to email us. Cheers, Alan
