“There is no love sincerer than the love of food” – George Bernard Shaw

Food is a passion for a lot of people; they often search for the perfect place to eat and love to tell stories of their dining experiences.

Have you ever enjoyed a meal so much that you savour the taste and often dream of returning to eat it all over again?

Foodies from far and wide can now take part in a culinary experience like no other, and you can find it in Dorset.

Award-winning chef and chocolatier Christian Orner offers a chef’s table dining experience that is not only a delicious culinary adventure but will leave you wanting to return again and again.

Offering a 7-course tasting menu that will blow you away, each one bursting with flavour, has an Instagram-worthy presentation and a great atmosphere.

Here’s what to look forward to at SALT Cø’s chef’s table.

A chef’s table is an intimate setting; you can capture the chef’s creative process and artistic vision whilst taking in how the professionals create delicious dishes.

When entering SALT Cø, a clean, open kitchen and a large, well-dressed bar-style island await you.

You’re warmly greeted by Christian and his right-hand man, sous chef Graham. Instantly, you are made to feel at home.

As soon as you meet Christian, you feel as though you’ve made a friend. His sense of humour and friendly personality radiates from him and instantly puts you in a happy mood.

As the evening progresses, you start to learn a lot about Christian’s love of cooking and how much he loves his job whilst he shares interesting stories and his vast knowledge of food.

All whilst cooking up an excellent 7-course meal and staying attentive to his guests.

Sous chef Graham also shares interesting stories and anecdotes from his many years in the hospitality industry whilst having a great rapport with Christian.

Together, as a team, they deliver one of the best chefs’ table experiences Dorset has to offer.

The menu changes to match the seasons and is based on modern British, Scandinavian, French and Mediterranean food.

Christian has Norwegian and British heritage and incorporates that into his menu.

No matter what is on offer for the evening, you’ll enjoy a range of starters, mains and desserts.

Each is expertly made in front of your eyes whilst you socialise and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

The dining area seats up to 8 guests; whether you’re coming as a group of friends or joining others that you don’t know, you’ll soon bond over the love of good food and a great dinner party.

Christian will keep everyone engaged in the chat by playing small games such as ‘Guess the Flavour’ or ‘Chocolate Roulette.’

This ensures everyone can get involved without it being too forced and encourages lots of fun conversation amongst the diners.

Menu items can include crab tacos presented in cute jars that, once open, spill out smoke to add that wow factor.

Twice-backed cheddar cheese souffle, baked to perfection, soft and fluffy with a lightly crisp outside.

A gorgeous piece of cod, topped with cod skin crackling, served in soup. Or pan-roasted smoked duck breast cooked to order and paired with homemade confit duck leg ravioli in a duck broth (pictured above).

🍽️ The menu items will change depending on the season and occasion. The items listed on this post are items we enjoyed during our visit.

Whilst the diners indulge themselves, other than the ‘mmm’ sounds and nodding of heads, you can hear a pin drop.

Whilst allowing you to eat, Christian will explain the food and share stories keeping the atmosphere relaxed.

Christian is a chocolatier as well as a chef, so the desserts are just as exciting and do not disappoint.

These can include (depending on the menu) chocolate souffle oozing with warm chocolatey goodness; if you’re a dessert fan, you will be dreaming of the sweet tastes and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate sensations.

Or enjoy an apple crumble tart accompanied by light creamy ice cream and fresh cream, the perfect mix of sweet, sour, hot and cold.

If you enjoyed the sweet treats, then there will be opportunities to purchase Christian’s homemade chocolate and other accompaniments, such as his signature salts, at the chef’s table experience.

Whether you want to buy for a friend, special occasion or to enjoy all for yourself.
