Beaminster is a small, quaint market town in the heart of Dorset. It offers a range of independent shops and eateries.

You’ll find this quirky and beautiful cafe, the Trading Post & Cafe, which offers a vegetarian and vegan menu to brighten your day.

The Cafe prides itself on its bespoke menu, which is full of colour and flavour.

Whether you’re a seasoned vegetarian, vegan or flexitarian, there is something on the menu for you.

Here’s what to expect when visiting.

The cafe is run by Robin and Shirley who have owned the cafe for more than 31 years.

A lot has changed during that time, including the menu, interiors and even the name.

They each enjoy a meatless lifestyle, and knowing that many people are choosing not to eat meat, they want to incorporate it into their cafe.

Offering a breakfast, brunch and lunch menu with lots of choices—it’ll be hard to choose!

Over the many years it has been open, the cafe has also sold art, crafts and jewellery.

Today, with Shirley’s keen eye and expertise, the cafe mainly sells one-off, vintage and unique jewellery.

While you enjoy your morning coffee or bite to eat, you can browse the beautiful pieces on offer. You may even find something you fall in love with and want to treat yourself or a loved one.

On entering the cafe, you’ll notice the eclectic furniture, mismatched chairs (that add to the charm) and calming colours that envelope the cafe, making it a perfect spot for a cosy meet-up with friends and family or a nice setting for a bite to eat when in Beaminster.

The seasonal menu is made from fresh ingredients, and many items are locally sourced, such as the fresh bread from Evershot and local cheese, ensuring you’re getting the very best ingredients that are on offer.

You’ll find many of the dishes are made to feed the soul, look pleasing to the eye and leave you wanting more.

The menu includes Salad Soul Bowls, Dorset rarebit, sandwiches, cheese souffle, macaroni cheese and more. It also offers an extensive hot and cold drinks menu.

There’s something special about stopping somewhere for a hot drink and a slice of cake in the afternoon.

If you’re visiting and in the mood for a sweet treat, the selection of cakes will leave you spoiled for choice.

Robin is a master baker with many years of experience who can create beautiful gluten-free cakes.

Some examples from the menu are coffee and walnuts with buttercream icing, Dorset apple cake, homemade Easter buns and more.
