The fry-up is, without a doubt, one of England’s most famous dishes, and we are always on the hunt for a good one.
We like to go out for a traditional English breakfast once a week and have heard so many positive things about Mum’s Cafe and decided to make it our new breakfast destination for that week and it did not disappoint!
Crowned cafe of the year 2021, Mum’s Cafe is a small place making a big impact.
The interior is cosy, with hundreds of funny and inspirational quotes covering the wall, giving you lots to look at and chat about. Plus, stopping you from scrolling on your phone while waiting for your food.
The cafe soon filled up whilst we were there. Many customers were greeted by name, showing that lots of locals visit the cafe and have a warm welcome when returning.
The menu was varied, with a great selection of meals and added extras to make your breakfast just how you like.
Being first-time customers, we noticed the staff were very attentive and friendly and catered to all of our needs.
Our toast was the first to come out and was quick with good quality thick bread and lashings of butter it was delicious and was gone within minutes!
The fried breakfast didn’t let us down; the sausages were great quality, thick bacon and the bubble and squeak were delicious and bursting with flavour.
All the ingredients were flavoursome and were very good quality.
This cafe is far from a ‘greasy spoon’ when it comes to brilliant cooking and fresh ingredients.
We decided to get two different breakfasts so we could experience different tastes, and seeing pancakes on the menu, we couldn’t say no!
Who doesn’t love pancakes with lashings of syrup and a side of bacon?
Although it’s not a traditional English fry-up it was bursting with lots of delicious flavours, from the sweetness of the syrup to the saltiness of the bacon. Yum!
Mum’s Cafe doesn’t just offer the best breakfasts in town; it also offers a range of different meals for you to enjoy for brunch or lunch.
You can find a range of traditional dishes such as scampi and chips, jacket potatoes, roast dinners, toasties and more.
This is a cafe that you don’t want to miss out on, from the great service to the speedy, great-tasting food.
The atmosphere is happy and relaxed and there’s an endless amount of reading material with the cool decor.
