Locals Can’t Decide If It’s A Pub, A Games Room, Or A Movie Set — But Everyone’s Obsessed

If you’re wandering around Weymouth Harbour and fancy something a little different, Sticks & Bones in Hope Square is the spot you’ll want to discover.

It’s Weymouth’s only gaming bar, and it combines the feel of a cosy pub with the fun of board games, consoles and retro arcades.

Whether you’re here for a pint, a burger, or a Mario Kart showdown, it’s got plenty to keep you entertained.

Just look at this outdoor setup, perfect for sunny afternoons with friends.

Step inside and it feels like you’ve entered a theme park. One minute you’re sitting by a medieval stone fireplace, the next you’re spotting sci-fi props tucked into the walls.

Someone said the décor feels like something straight out of Universal Studios, and they weren’t wrong.

Keep an eye out for the tables — this one is carved with a pirate skull compass. How cool is that?

The bar itself is a masterpiece, with a rustic steampunk look and copper piping. It’s the kind of place you end up just staring at while you wait for your pint.

And if you’re a board game fan, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Shelves are stacked high and you can play as many as you like, completely free.

Look up and you’ll spot Thor’s hammer lodged in the wall, just casually hanging there.

Or the Predator trophy head glaring down from above — it’s these quirky touches that make the place such fun.

Of course, you’ll need fuel while gaming, and the menu doesn’t disappoint.

The Chorizo and Pork Burger is loaded with cheese, salsa and fresh greens.

Wash it down with one of their fruity coolers — almost too pretty to drink… almost.

And yes, there are brilliant veggie and vegan options too, like these roasted cauliflower tacos with guacamole.

How good do they look?

The retro arcade corner is a gem too, packed with classics like Point Blank 2 and other old-school games.

It’s easy to lose track of time once you sit down and get playing.

Events are a big part of the vibe here too. You might stumble across live music, quiz nights, or even a Guitar Hero or Mario Kart tournament.

It draws a real mix of people — families, friends, gamers, and plenty of four-legged visitors too (yep, dogs are welcome).

Whether you’re catching up with mates, trying something different for date night, or just curious to see inside, Sticks & Bones is a warm and lively spot in the square.
