Southbourne is well known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and thriving high street, which hosts a number of bars, cafes and restaurants.

One restaurant in particular stands out from the crowd with its unique take on food, the way it’s cooked and where it comes from.

The Larder House is a hidden gem, the perfect place for people who want to indulge in beautiful food with a relaxed atmosphere.

The restaurant is a foodie’s paradise, a place everyone should visit for a fine dining experience with a chilled vibe.

The Larder House is a modern European restaurant that stands out in the East Dorset food and drink scene.

The founder, James Fowler, and his highly skilled, friendly and dedicated team aim to give customers delicious fresh ingredients that are pure, the very best and sourced locally or from Europe.

The restaurant has a rustic, relaxed and calm vibe.

You get the feeling that you’re in a European cafe, and the natural surroundings chill you out, ready for some tasty food and drink.

There is an outside patio that guests can also enjoy.

The menu changes to suit the seasons, offering smaller plates to share, group menus and dinners all to yourself.

The above dish is Sopley asparagus with crispy ham hock & a Burford Brown poached egg.

The presentation is so beautiful that you almost don’t want to ruin the dish, although there’ll be no regrets when you experience the taste.

Oysters are a favourite at the restaurant, so much so that there’s an annual Oyster festival that takes place.

Enjoying oysters that are locally sourced with an all-day oyster menu, DJ and drinks.

The wood-fired oven is the heart of the restaurant and is used to showcase some of the finest tastes and flavours.

Each plate is lovingly well thought about, prepared and presented for diners to treat their tastebuds to the beautiful dishes on offer.

The above dish is overnight beef, parsnip and pedro ximénez purée, crispy leeks and meadowsweet pickled raisins.

There is also a fantastic menu for Sunday roasts. If you don’t feel like cooking on a Sunday, this is the perfect spot that is guaranteed to satisfy your roast dinner cravings.

The Larder House

The Library of Liqueur offers a collection of fine spirits and drinks to suit the season. The very finest is always at the heart of what The Larder House provides.

With an eclectic cocktail menu (pictured above), these delicious drinks can be enjoyed on the outside terrace in the sun or in the luxurious bar area.
