The iconic Chesil Beach is an 18-mile-long shingle beach. It runs from West Bay to Portland and is known for its unique formation, amazing views and interesting wildlife, which makes it a popular spot.

It is here that you’ll find a notable and highly regarded Dorset-based restaurant and urban cafe.

Whether you’re meeting friends or enjoying a solo meal, you’re sure to have an enjoyable experience at part of the Salt Pig brand, The Pebble Pig.

Here’s what to look forward to during your visit.

The Pebble Pig can be found at the Wild Chesil Centre, located on Portland Beach Road, which runs along Chesil Beach.

There is a pay-and-display car park at the centre.

The wooden building boasts large windows that surround the beach, providing you with great views of the picturesque shingle and abundant wildlife.

On entering, the delicious smell hits you, drawing you to the Pebble Pig Cafe.

The food counter displays the daily dishes, bursting with vibrant colours and making you want to order everything off the menu.

The lovely members of staff greet you and happily recommend items on the menu if you’re struggling to decide what to eat.

A variety of breakfast, lunch, coffee, sweet treats, and snacks are available on the menu.

Everything is made from locally sourced produce, using meat from The Purbecks, which contributes to the exceptional quality and provides the great tastes of Dorset.

Some of the dishes on the menu include fresh, homemade quiche, large sausage rolls, and freshly made-to-order items such as Salt Pig bacon, brie, and caramelised onion chutney ciabatta, plus many more fresh and tasty meals.

If you have any space left after the main course, or you’re visiting to enjoy a coffee and sweet treat, then The Pebble Pig offers a wide selection of fresh cakes and sweets.

The range of cakes is too hard to resist. You can enjoy chocolate brownies, sticky date cakes, flapjacks, freshly baked scones and many other options.

A range of locally produced items is also available for purchase, including Dorset ciders, Purbeck ice cream, and other regional specialities.

Children’s meal box options are also a handy way to keep little ones happy and offer options that even the fussiest of eaters will enjoy.

You can enjoy all of this within the light and bright restaurant café or outside in the sunshine.

The visitor centre is also a brilliant place to explore, featuring a cute gift shop, exhibitions, and a bird-watching post complete with binoculars and a logbook of what you spot.

The Pebble Pig is a lovely place to visit during your time in Weymouth or Portland.

You can enjoy a beautiful part of Dorset whilst eating the best locally sourced food, meat from their farms, fish from the surrounding areas and Dorset-made products to complement your meal.
