Known as ‘The Pearl of Dorset’ Lyme Regis is west of Dorset and home to The Whole Hog.
Visiting Lyme Bay is a treat in itself with its beautiful shingle beach, pretty pastel beach huts and stunning views across the bay.
It’s always nice to treat yourself to some food when out and about, and why not go big with one of the best (if not the best) hog roasts in Dorset.
Meat eaters will love The Whole Hog and the place is well known for its amazing food and great service…not forgetting the delicious doughnuts.
Set just off the high street, The Whole Hog specialises in selling ‘pulled’ sandwiches (such as pulled pork and chicken)
The Whole Hog is takeaway only, but don’t let that put you off.
There are plenty of places for you to enjoy your food with some of the most spectacular views of the beach and harbour side.
Watch out for the famous seagulls of Lyme Bay, as they will take your food, and you do not want to lose this sandwich.
The pulled pork sandwiches were the best!
The sandwich consists of pork, crackling, onions, gravy, apple sauce and stuffing.
Worth every penny with big hearty portions you won’t be able to resist.
However, once they sell out, they close up. So to avoid being disappointed, get there nice and early. We got there once, and they had shut early because they had sold everything.
It’s always nice to finish your food with dessert, or you can skip the sandwich and go straight for the sweet stuff!
The doughnuts are amazing. They have delicious fillings such as Nutella, Biscoff, salted caramel, honeycomb, and traditional raspberry jam.
You can buy them individually or in a box of three, and it’ll be hard not to eat them all at once!
Winning Best Cafe, Food Reader award 2023, The Whole Hog is everything you could want from a small cafe.
It has an excellent location, amazing food, great staff and is aesthetically pleasing.
You will tell everyone who goes to Lyme Bay to check this place out and will want to enjoy it every time you’re there.
If you want to check them out, you can see them on their Instagram and Facebook. If you try them out, let us know what you think!
