The Manor House is open from March to September, from Sunday to Thursday. It is open for guided tours only, giving visitors the chance to learn the history of the stunning manor house.
You’ll be amazed by the beautiful architecture of the rooms, such as the Great Chamber pictured above.
The Tudor Ceiling is a beautiful sight, and the knowledgeable volunteers will educate you about the rooms and their past owners.
Winner of the 2020 Historic Houses Garden of the Year, the Mapperton Gardens are a neatly kept and beautifully maintained set of gardens for visitors to explore.
Known as one of the most distinctive gardens in the country, with uniquely shaped bushes, statues, plants and flowers.
Offering tranquillity and peaceful surroundings, the gardens are a lovely place to sit back, relax and enjoy.
The gardens are open from March – September. It is advised to pre-book tickets for the manor house and gardens to avoid disappointment.
There are three different walk trails you can take if you’re in the mood.
Each one varies between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. Along the way, you’ll see many sights, such as cattle, ponies, great views, and an Iron Age hill fort.
A map is available at the Coach House Cafe. Dogs on lead are welcome on these trails.
The option to take a self-guided Wildlands Safari is available, new for 2024.
Visitors can explore at their own pace, and children can complete a discovery trail.
Tickets need to be booked for this trial, either online or from the cafe. The walk is approximately 4 miles and takes about 3 hours to complete.
There is lots of wildlife to spot in and around Mapperton, creating a magical and fun atmosphere for all.
Dogs aren’t allowed on the Wildland Safari as there are baby animals roaming free.
Suitable footwear is also recommended.
Mapperton is a great spot for little ones. Two natural play areas are available; the Beaver play area is suitable for under-sixes and got its name from two resident beavers, Woody and Twiggy.
Little ones can play with sandpits, swings and teepees. Their imaginations will run wild, having fun in the woodlands.
There is also the Lost Village play area for older children, complete with an obstacle course, playhouses, swings, and more.
After all the excitement, the Coach House Café is the perfect place to grab a spot of lunch or a light bite.
Offering hot and cold drinks, delicious cakes, cream teas, sandwiches and more.
Events are also held throughout the year for all ages, such as creepy crawlies week, plant and Christmas fairs, wreath making and more.
