There’s something very special about Upwey Wishing Well, a multi-award-winning tea room voted the best in Dorset.
From the outside, Upwey Wishing Well almost looks like it belongs in a fairytale. It is nestled in a quaint little village in west Dorset.
The picturesque building, with plants climbing the entrance, the sound of running water and the feeling of complete relaxation in the countryside make Upwey Wishing Well a fantastic spot to enjoy the very best High Tea Dorset has to offer.
Here’s what to look forward to when visiting.
When entering the tea rooms, you are warmly welcomed by the friendly staff; no matter how busy, they will always find the time to greet guests upon arrival.
A pretty dining room offers lots of cosy spots to meet with loved ones and indulge in succulent sweet treats, breakfast, brunch and lunch.
A favourite among many and one that impresses patrons to no end is the High Tea.
It features finger sandwiches made with high-quality ingredients, homemade quiche, freshly baked cakes and scones paired with thick clotted cream and fruity jam.
Which begs the question: Is it cream or jam first?
The scones are easily some of the best Dorset has to offer. They are huge, freshly baked, crisp on the outside and have a beautiful, sweet, soft, crumbly texture in the middle.
You’ll be salivating whilst preparing your scone and will be blown away by the sweet, buttery taste.
The cakes provided for High Tea vary. However, they are all made with lots of love, thought and attention.
When you bite into the delicious cakes, you’ll witness a burst of flavour, a soft, moist inside and baked to perfection.
The difference between a shop-bought generic cake and Upwey’s freshly baked treats is second to none and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
The brilliant baker Katie works behind the scenes at Upwey Wishing Well. Her high level of talent, a keen eye for detail and dedication really shows in her food.
She produces mouthwatering food that you will dream of eating again and again.
Upwey Wishing Well is renowned for its beautiful subtropical water gardens.
You can enjoy dining inside in the charming tea room or outside in the tranquillity of the garden with the sound of the flowing water.
Of course, a visit to the tearooms is not complete without a visit to the famous wishing well.
The well dates back to the Ice Age and is said to have healing powers. Its crystal-clear waters were also a favourite visiting spot for King George III, so much so that the stone seat next to the well was built for him.
A visit to Upwey is a delightful day out for all ages. Whether you’re visiting for a special occasion, a get-together with family or a catch-up with friends, you’re sure to be impressed by the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, amazing food and beautiful gardens.
The High Tea is unlike any other for its excellent produce and exceptional baking.
Other Afternoon Tea, breakfast, brunch, and lunch options are also available, and a full menu can be found on the website here.
