The Lyme Regis Museum is a fascinating place showcasing lots of cultural and historical finds from within the area.

Visitors can wander around the beautifully presented rooms, admiring the abundance of fossil collections, paintings, photographs and artefacts.

With activities and points of interest for children, the Lyme Regis Museum is a brilliant place that all ages can enjoy.

Little ones will love learning about dinosaurs, whilst adults can explore the town’s history whilst enjoying the beautiful buildings and great views.

The museum was built on the site of Mary Anning’s home in the heart of the town. She was a famous fossil hunter from Lyme Regis and made many discoveries, her most famous being the first complete skeleton of a plesiosaur.

The building was built in 1902 and offers breathtaking views over Lyme Bay and some beautiful architecture.

There are a number of collections in the museum, and each room has amazing displays.

You’ll be able to learn a lot about the history of Lyme Regis and admire display cases full of interesting objects from the past.

Points of interest for children keep them entertained and are in keeping with the museum.

You’ll find 200 million years worth of history in this small yet interesting museum. Rooms showcasing all things dinosaurs, fossils and geology will educate you and leave you amazed by what has been discovered within the Jurrasic Coast.

Other activities include fossil rubbing and dinosaur origami.

The building, being very old, holds a lot of history. Interesting walkways, stairwells and original features add interest to the museum.

Using your imagination, you wonder what it must have been like when Mary Anning lived in the building and how it has changed over time.

There are a number of events that are held at the museum that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Visitors can go on guided walks based on fossils, town history and ghosts, see exhibitions and join workshops featuring wildlife drawings and watercolour classes.
