As soon you walk through the door at Chez Fred, you are greeted in a friendly and prompt manner, ensuring you feel valued from the moment you step through the door.
Normally, there’s a little wait to get a table at the restaurant, but they have a seated waiting area, and service moves quickly, so you shouldn’t be waiting too long.
Weekend evenings could be a little longer, but if you can wait, it’s totally worth it!
Seeing this outside a restaurant is always a good sign!
Please note: Chez Fred does not take reservations, so if you want to avoid waiting too long, it’s best to avoid the busiest times, which is about 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Once you taste their fish and chips, it becomes obvious why they are so popular. Their prime cod and line-caught haddock are caught in the deep, clear, ice-cold waters of Norway and Iceland, which really enhances the quality.
The battered fish is so light and crispy, and the chips are soft and fluffy with a light crisp outside.
Something that makes Chez Fred so unique is that all their meals come with unlimited freshly cooked chips. YES, I said unlimited!
The friendly waiters often pop past to make sure you are happy and to see if you want a top-up should you want more.
You can get all the usual sides, such as mushy peas, beans and curry sauce.
They have a kids’ menu, which has good portions and pretty fair prices for quality.
And if you fancy staying in, you can get a takeaway. 👌
It’s not all fish and chips though. They do delicious homemade Jersey milk and soft serve ice cream.
And classics such as hot sticky toffee and chocolate pudding. Plus they do other yummy desserts.
