The 80’s and 90’s were peak years for video games. Memories of playing Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mastersystem or Mario All-Stars on the Super Nintendo are fondly remembered as great childhood memories.

Fast forward to today, and you can feel a sense of nostalgia as you enter the Retrocave, a place abundant in retro video games, toys, board games and more.

Here’s what to expect at the best place for gamers in Dorset.

Situated along Ashley Road in Poole, the cafe and retro games shop hosts over 350 games for visitors to play, giving you lots of choices and the option to switch the games as many times as you like.

You can be playing Pacman one minute and Donkey Kong the next. The endless list of games offers you lots of variety.

The very friendly staff know their stuff when it comes to games and are always up for a chat during your visit.

The games are located close to the consoles, showing you what is on offer. Age 18+ games are locked away and can be played on request to ensure age-appropriate games are used.

All the classics can be found, such as Mario Kart, The Sims, James Bond Golden Eye, Final Fantasy, Tony Hawk Skateboarding, Grand Theft Auto, Tomb Raider, and so much more.

Memories will be unlocked as soon as you click the game into place and wait for it to load.

What makes the Retrocave a great place to visit is the fact that it is fun for all ages; adults will love the memories whilst showing their children the ‘old school’ way to the game.

From Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, Pokemon and Star Wars, it’s the perfect spot to meet like-minded people and enjoy doing what you love.
